Spiritual Counselling

We are all spiritual beings. However, when we feel lost or disconnected, it often means we have lost our connection, our connection firstly to ourselves and also to a greater or higher power. Spirituality does not mean religion or God. It means being connected and knowing your purpose in life.

If spirituality is missing from our lives, we will try to fill ourselves up with being busy, or numerous other distractions, leaving us feeling numb or detached. This means we have disconnected from ourselves and are lost.

Spiritual counselling, also referred to as Soul Coaching, offers a way to find your way back to yourself.

The spiritual journey can be blissful and awakening, but also it can be arduous, frightening and lonely. Anyone can have a spiritual experience, or peak experience, but holistic selfrealisation is a different matter. Spiritual development best occurs at the point when the Ego identity is strong enough to take a little disorientation.

One’s understanding and meaning of one’s lives depend on the presence of Ego. If the Ego is not strong and does not hold the person in a healthy reality; the spiritual opening then results in fragmentation and crises. This altered State of Consciousness can be catastrophic to the Ego if the individual contacts the lower level of consciousness rather than the higher level of consciousness. A healthy Ego arises from the healing and integration of past traumas and of SelfRealisation/ SelfAwareness.

Having awareness of a spiritual identity means we are all more than our personalities and our problems.

Faith in Self that we have within us the wisdom to make the right choices.

Faith in potential that every situation has a potential for growth.

Faith in the journey that our lives have meaning.

Faith in Spirit that we are truly Spiritual Beings.

Grief and Bereavement

Spiritual Counselling is also often sought out when someone is experiencing loss and grief. Loss and grief can leave a person feeling hopeless and they can lose their spiritual connectedness. Loss is a life changing event, and grief is a natural response. However, too often, we feel we have to get back to life after a loss and never take the time to fully grieve and celebrate the person who has gone.

As a certified Spiritual Director, I understand and can help you deal with these difficult emotions and struggles at this time in your life. Friends and other family members are usually at a loss to support you, and often relationship problems can arise if grief is not dealt with in a healthy way.

Seeking support from a trained therapist will allow for a holistic examination of your grief, and give you the support you need to work through your feelings, from anger to denial, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
